It will feature music from Rachel Allen and Bo Moore, who are reuniting to play for the event. There will be items for a silent auction including Sabika jewelry, a spot at Jim Donovan's Summer Rhythm Renewal at St. Francis University and services such as Thai massage, music lessons, photography lessons, Reiki sessions and math tutoring. There also will be a wine auction and basket raffle. The cost is $5 per person and includes two beverage tickets and a ticket for the basket items. Light refreshments will be served."This will be a great opportunity to reunite with friends and for people to come out and support us in a fun and laid-back atmosphere," said Allen, a co-founde儲存 of Kulani, which was formed in 2009.Because Kulani is community oriented and has a desire to spread joy, one of the main goals of the trip is to integrate all that they see and learn in Guinea into dance classes and performances that will benefit the people of Johnstown."We're planning on having a presentation at Art Works upon return, with the ability to resume regular classes at Bottle Works with many members having the background and skills to teach," Allen said.In addition, a West African dance class will be held at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center and will serve as another fundraising opportunity. The cost is $10 per person. The group has put $11,200 toward the trip and still has $20,800 left to raise.Members also are waiting on two pending grants to help with trip expenses. Those interested in helping can make a tax-deductible donation of $25 or more to the Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center, 411 Third Ave., Johnstown, Pa. 15906 and mark it Kulani: Africa Trip.Kelly Urban is a reporter with The Tribune-Democrat.
