Source: New Haven Register, Conn.迷利倉Dec. 28--NEW HAVEN -- Connecticut State Police Friday released thousands of pages of police documents from the investigation into the Dec. 14, 2012 slaying of 20 children and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. It was hoped that the release Friday of documents from the investigation into last year's school massacre in Newtown would shed more light on the world of the 20-year-old gunman, but police have already said they may never know his motives. The report shows Nancy Lanza, who was killed by her son, Adam Lanza, before he went to the school, spent her last three days in New Hampshire where she appears to have dined alone, except for one lunch, where she talked with an unidentified companion about her son "with disabilities."It was a brief break for Nancy Lanza, who didn't work and spent her time taking care of her son, whom authorities have concluded had untreated mental health issues. She stayed at the Omni Hotels Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, N.H. and spent time shopping at a number of outlets in North Conway, N.H., checking back in with the unnamed person she dined with when she returned home at 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 13.The report does not identify many of the people they interviewed in the almost year-long investigation. (See photos of the evidence here)Nancy Lanza was killed by Adam Lanza with a Savage Arms Mark II .22 caliber bolt action rifle with four bullets to her head as she laid in her bed sometime between 8 and 9 a.m. on Dec. 14.The state police believe Adam Lanza retrieved the rifle from the gun safe in his bedroom and discharged one bullet into the floor before killing his mother and driving to the elementary school.Outgoing State Police Commissioner Reuben F. Bradford, in a letter accompanying release of the documents, said the investigation was unparalleled in the 110-year history of the police force and involved tens of thousands of hours of work.It was accompanied by hundreds of photos, including Nancy Lanza's bedroom where her purchases in New Hampshire can be seen in bags in her bedroom. While the names of the murdered children are well known, they are not stated in the report, nor are the names of the children who survived the slayings that took place in several first-grade classrooms. The names of most witnesses, who were not generally known, also are redacted. Bradford said this was because individuals whose identities became public early on were subject to harassment.Bradford, who announced his retirement this week, said "all visual images depicting the deceased have been withheld, as well as written descriptions whose disclosure would be highly offensive to a reasonable person and would violate the constitutional rights of the families.""Balancing the often-competing interests of government transparency and individual privacy has been difficult," Bradford wrote.State police released their report totaling more than 7,000 pages shortly after 3 p.m. The report "has been redacted according to law," and includes multiple text, photos and 911 calls received by state police.Prosecutors issued a summary of the investigation last month that portrayed Adam Lanza as obsessed with mass murders. The summary report referred to items found on a computer at Lanza's house that included writings detailing relationships, personal beliefs, a daily schedule, desires, goals and other topics.Lanza gunned down 20 first-graders and six educators with a semi-automatic rifle at Sandy Hook Elementary School. He committed suicide with a handgun as police arrived at the school. The summary says Lanza had "significant mental health issues."The report said that in 2005, Lanza was diagnosed with Asperger's disorder, a mild form of autism that is not associated with violence, and that he lacked empathy for others and behaved strangely.Nobody was allowed into his room, he wouldn't touch doorknobs, his windows were covered with black plastic bags, his food had to be arranged on the plate in a certain way and he changed clothes often during the day, according to the repo迷你倉t.In fifth-grade, Lanza wrote "The Big Book of Granny," in which the main character has a gun in her cane and shoots people, and another character talks of liking to hurt people, especially children. The book was among items seized from Lanza's home, but there was no indication he ever handed in the book at school.Lanza became obsessed with the 1999 bloodbath at Columbine High in Colorado and other mass killings, the report said. He even kept a spreadsheet ranking mass murders and had a copy of a report of a school massacre in 1891.Since the basic outline and the details of much of the slayings were known, the report covered smaller details that were not part of the earlier summary issued by state police. The FBI took pictures of the deceased Adam Lanza so they could relay them to officials who were interviewing his brother for purposes of identifying the body. These cell phone photos were later destroyed. The massive document is a sad compilation of endless reports detailing not only the forensic evidence, but the notification of each of the families of the death of their loved ones. In dry language, other reports noted the return of jewelry and the possessions of the victims to the families. There was a legal fight over the release of the recordings of 911 calls that came from the school. Judge Eliot Prescott of New Britain Superior court ruled that there was no legal reason to keep them private. The calls showed that the dispatchers remained calm throughout the ordeal and acted professionally as it unfolded. There are detailed statements from the teachers who locked down their classrooms while Lanza went on his shooting spree, much of which has been written about in the last year. One of the reports states that Adam Lanza never took any medication and refused to accept that he had Asperger's."Adam was bullied, but not excessively, for his social awkwardness and his physical gate," according to an unidentified person interviewed by police. "Adam continued in school until his 9th grade year when stresses over papers, classes, pressures from grades and dealing with his disease he was finally removed from school." He carried cleaning supplies i his bag, one report said.In the end, much of the report is about the relationship between the mother and son.One of the family photos taken from Nancy Lanza's home shows a toddler sitting in front of a rack of guns with ammunition in his lap; there was also a holiday card with a check to Adam Lanza from his mother for him to buy a gun.Nancy Lanza had plans to sell the Newtown house and move, to downsize, her friend told police.Other things culled from the reports: Nancy Lanza never showed any fear of her son or said that he had acted violently. She had taken him out of school, however, because he was sensitive to sound and light.Nancy Lanza bought six firearms between March 2010 and January 2012 including: the Bushmaster XM-15 Adam Lanza used to kill the 26 victims at the school; a Glock 20SF; an Izhmash (IMEZ) 12-guage shotgun; Enfield-NO4MK1 .303 caliber rifle; Sig Sauer and a Savage Mark IMF .22 caliber. In one dramatic exchange, dispatcher Karen LaPrade is talking to a woman inside an office in Room 9 where there are five adults, one of whom is wounded. The dispatcher is trying to get her to attend to the injured colleague by putting pressure on it, but the caller is afraid."He's right outside the ... door. I don't want to move ... There must have been 100 shots, I'm telling you."Adam Lanza fired 154-bullets in less than five minutes. Newtown officers were on the scene a total of 1 minute and 10 seconds before Adam Lanza had committed suicide.Police concluded that Adam Lanza planned the massacre, including his suicide, and acted alone. The Associated Press contributed to this story.
